Save V’s Splurge Post Treatment Skin Care Products
I don’t know about you, but the cosmetic industry is almost another universe, with the vast amount of choice, I actually don’t know where to start, other than” I like the look of that”. (A little bit like which Semi-permanent Makeup Artist to choose?!)
So, if you’re anything like me, I love to know what products people like to use, as they come with a recommendation or not; as well as seeing the proof in the pudding itself.
I have particularly chosen products that tend to be more natural in their ingredients as well as products that will compliment your daily routine post semi-permanent makeup treatment!
Here are some of DEFINED’S ‘Splurges’ or ‘Saves’ towards some of the well–known beauty products out there, that have been tried, tested and used for a length of time by myself.
A product I think has become an everyday ‘must have’ for removing any oils, makeup or grime quite easily, whilst being kind to the skin and doesn’t cost a fortune.
This is a ‘must have’ product should you have just had a microblading treatment, or any other semi-permanent makeup treatment, as you can still cleanse your face without the risk of getting too much water on your face, during the post treatment phase, where you must keep the area as dry as possible. Yet Micellar water is kind and gentle to the skin and does a remarkable job at removing that stubborn makeup and grime we collect on a day to day basis, whilst leaving it feeling soft, fresh and toned. Do not use facial wipes!
SUPER SAVE: Sainsbury’s – My Skin Matters Micellar Water, 500ml- £2.00
(This is also a vegan product and cruelty free, so win, win!)
The difference a cleanser can make to the skin, is the moisturising properties that they contain and the essential oils each of them contain. I find a cleanser has to leave the skin hydrated, soft as well as enriching the skin with goodness. Two of my favourites are as follows:
SAVE:- Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish 250ml (including 2 pure cotton cloths) – £22.50
A reasonable price, where you only need one pump to cleans your whole face and neck area. Enriched with essential oils, as well as a focus on natural products, this is a multi-award winning product, of which I can see why!
SPLURGE: Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm 100ml- £47.00
This product is highly recommended if you wish for a balm over a cleansing cream, it smells divine and really does leave your skin super-soft and from the first time you use it, you can really feel the difference. Worth the investment!
Choosing a toner needs to feel as though you haven’t stripped your skin from your natural oils, which most often leaves your skin dry and irritated. You want a toner to close your pores and provide a great base to apply your moisturisers/ facial serum/oil. For this one, please take into consideration your skin type and whether you may have more sensitive skin or not, therefore I have given an option for the more sensitive skin.
SAVE: PIXIE 5% Glycolic Acid Toner 250ml- £18
I absolutely love this gem! It acts as a radiance enhancing toner, incorporating 5% glycolic acid, to remove those dead skin cells. Application is with a cotton pad, so again perfect for those who have just had a semi-permanent makeup treatment as you can control the area you apply it. It’s gentle enough to apply each day and does what it says on the bottle…gives you a glow! Should you have sensitive skin, you may wish to try this in a smaller bottle size first.
Liz Earle Instant Boost Facial Tonic, 200ml- £16
Liz Earle again wins for the natual ingredients, as this is an aromatic toner that aims to refresh, brighten and provide a soft radiant feeling. It is also alcohol free, so especially good for sensitive skin. Another great buy, that won’t break the bank!
SPLURGE: Dr Hauschka Toner, 100ml- £25.50
This is a vegan friendly toner that can also be used to mist over makeup, or as an aftershave for men! This contains Anthyllis extract that helps skin remain balanced and healthy. Witch hazel extract supports tone and elasticity and refining pores. It is pricier, but they are organic and medicinal and they are obsessed with quality of products.
SAVE: The Sanctuary Spa Overnight Miracle Oil, 30ml- £13.33 (offer price at Boots)
This serum doesn’t make your skin feel oily, it soaks into the skin after your cleansing routine and enriched with re-texturising rosehip oil & elasticity enhancing jojoba oil. A definite afforable purchase that is putting goodness into your skin overnight, whilst you sleep.
SPLURGE: Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate for Night 28ml- £42 (Or 10ml for£23)
This is so aromatic, it instantly feels indulgent and mirrors that spa facial feeling. I have lathered my face in this before, especially the Winter months before I go to sleep and do wake up with invigorated skin. It is 100% plant oil blended and another good investment should you need a weekly pick up and also you can keep it in your bathroom cupboard when you don’t have time for a facial!
SAVE: ALDI LACURA Caviar Illumination Day Cream, with SPF 15- £6.99
Anti-ageing product that really does make a difference to the overall feel ad appearance of your skin. It is quite a rich cream, but easily absorbs into the skin, leaving you plumped and illuminous. For the price, I really don’t think you can argue.
SPLURGE: Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream with Super 7 Complex- £42
This is packed with botanical ingredients and vitamins, it has a lightweight, dewy texture, a seriously quenching conclusion and the scent of early morning dewdrops, it is pricier, but you will want to use every last millimetre of it.
SPF’S– (The DEFINITE Daily Do)
SAVE: NO.7 Protect and Perfect Intense SPF 50, 50ml- £11.25 (offer price Boots)
This is a very easy product to wear each day, that isn’t oily or caused shine or breakouts. I think this is great value for money and Boots sun protection has been awared numerous times, for its quality. It smells great and protects and perfects your skin whilst trying to combat existing lines and wrinkles. I would definitely recommend this!
SPLURGE: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Tinted BB Cream SPF50+ 50ml, £17.50
I wouldn’t say that this is much more of a splurge than the ‘save’, however this is classed as more to one of your more so premium brands found in Boots Uk. I have used La Roche- Posay for a number of years now and find that they offer a wide range of SPF’s for all skin types. They are designed for the face and therefore not like your normal SPF we use on our bodies. I would say that they are a cosmetic makeup product, to be used under or alone as part of your daily skincare routine.
They offer a tinted SPF for those of you that don’t wear a lot make-up, or have pigmentation offering you a glow, slight coverage with the all-important SPF50. This branded SPF is my desert island product of choice!
Don’t change yourself. Define yourself.
